Red Rock Canyon, NV – 2011

13 02 2015

Just outside of Las Vegas (probably where the mob buried their problems) There is Red Rock Canyon.  We didn’t get out an hike, just had time for a drive around the loop and the sunset.  It turned out to be a pretty little place….  I can’t believe that it’s been 4 years since we’ve been and that long since I took the pictures – Finally got around to editing them!  FINALLY!  Figured I had to do it before my trip to Bryce/Zion/Antelope at the end of this month Winking smile

Foggy Vancouver Mornings

25 10 2013

The past two weeks have had Vancouver, BC sitting in a temperature inversion.  Down in the city, the temperatures have been 6C in the morning while up higher in the mountains it was 13C.  Combined with moist air from the Pacific, that means low lying fog and some great photo ops!

My wife and I went up on Saturday and found that the fog ceiling was a bit too high:

Not to be deterred by that, it was time to get a bit creative.  Mount Baker silhouetted against the sunrise:

The sunrise, itself made for a nice opportunity too:

That Saturday’s set can be seen here:

On Wednesday, I dragged myself out of bed solo and headed up… got to the cypress viewpoint by 06:15…urgh, that’s early.  What a reward though!!!

When the sun started to come up the real fun began:

Wednesday was just a day of "Wow" after "Wow" as the light changed and kept presenting interesting opportunities.  Wednesday’s set can be seen in entirety here:

A quick smattering of pictures from camping this past weekend in Manning Park. We actually got to WATCH ice-off. There was only about a 10 foot stretch of visible water when we got there, and by the time we left most of lone duck bay was ice free.

10 Days in Vegas

1 05 2011

I just got back from spending 10 days in Vegas.  I was going to blog about my daily activities, shopping, show watching and gambling, I decided to go with “What Happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas” 🙂

We DID do a few trips out of town… Here are a couple of shots from Valley of Fire State Park.

The sky was soo clear and the polarizer really helped the rocks and sky POP!

The link takes you to the pano that’s 2K wide. What an AMAZING view!

There are still hundreds more… those will come soon, but I’m SOOO far behind 😦

OK – I lied… Not EVERYTHING that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas…

WHAT WAS THIS GUY THINKING???  Yikes:
