Remembrance Day – 2015

17 11 2015

Our Scout group goes down to Chinatown every year to help commemorate Remembrance Day with the Chinese community.  It’s a small ceremony that takes place at 12:30pm, after the main one down in Victory Square.  The weather was beautiful this year and made for some good pics.

Finally–the elusive Hooded Mergansers!

4 02 2014

Others too, but the Hoodie was my takeaway victory of the day.  These guys have always stayed at the OTHER end of ponds from where I am shooting until this most recent time.
Here are the shots from the day.

Another Foggy Morning in Vancouver

22 01 2014

More from this past Saturday.  Mrs Dragonspeed and I headed up to get to the Cypress Bowl Road lower gate for 07:00 when it opens.  There were probably 10-15 cars, all with the same idea, parked along the side – just itchin’ to get up the hill.  When we got there, our fog density fears were confirmed: Fog was a bit too high up.

On the PLUS side, the sunrise was spectacular:

Boundary Bay Airshow – 2012

1 08 2012

This was my first time shooting an airshow, or for that matter any real plane "action"

The weather was nice, but the "Blue sky" we get on the Coast always has a lot of humidity in it, making it a bit hazy white…. Action shots all with 100-400, and some of the static display shots were with the 17-85. All with C-PL on.

Something a little more local…

9 07 2012

On Thursday, last week, I took some time and shot the Rufous Hummingbirds (Selasphorus rufus) at our back deck feeder.  The weather was a bit cool, so they really appreciated the food being out.

Also – a short video of them in and out…
