A walk around Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary

7 04 2013
Out at Reifel, the marsh wrens were building and calling like mad. Many of the Northern ducks were already flying away, but a few other regulars also made an appearance, resulting in an interesting walk.

Reminiscing… The Aurora Borealis

7 04 2013

I was just revisiting some of our Aurora pictures… Funny, but this one keeps sticking with me. It looks like a cloudy night, but every bit of "texture" you see in the sky is created by the Aurora Borealis. The actual night sky is clear (as can be seen from the visible stars) It really felt like it was "storm clouds of Aurora" coming over from the North. You can’t really put it fully into words…

God’s wonder never ceases to amaze!  I can see myself planning a trip again…

More Yukon Landscapes

4 04 2013

We took a trip down to Skagway from Whitehorse while visiting. The drive was nice, and the part through "White Pass" was appropriately named.. crazy! Here are some of the shots from the outing.

Redpolls

4 04 2013

When up in Whitehorse, I had the chance to shoot a couple of Redpolls. It was my first time seeing this lovely little bird. I’m glad I could get a decent shot! Turns out that the first is a Common Redpoll, and the second a Hoary Redpoll!

Yukon Wildlife Preserve

4 04 2013

While visiting Whitehorse, we took an afternoon to check out the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. They have various arctic animals in large enclosure areas, making for some decent photo opportunities….

It’s an interesting place with a noble mission of trying to educate people on the needs of the arctic animals and how the changing world affects them.
