We Lost a PST File Today

16 06 2004

!^$&@&# Outlook!  We keep our users mail on our server so that we can be sure it’s backed up, and secure.  Then, good old Outlook goes and puts the “Archive” folder in their Local Settings/etc….  which is on the PC.

Of course when the user’s local profile is FUBAR, you have to get rid of the profile and let it create a new one.  Yup, you guessed it, bye bye PST file 😦  It would be nice if there was a Global OU wide setting (GPO maybe?) that you could specify “Default any PST files to the user’s %HOME% Directory (which we DO have mapped to our File Server) making sure all these stupid PST files get backed up!

My MS gripe for the day.  If anyone has any suggestions, I’d LOVE to hear them!
